Enabling 5G - RED Technologies, Ericsson and Qualcomm to demonstrate licensed spectrum sharing solutions at Mobile World Congress

Stand 5B41-1, Hall 5

RED Technologies, a leading innovator in new spectrum management and advanced self-organizing network solutions (SON), will demonstrate the effectiveness of its self-organizing network solutions for Licensed Shared Access (LSA), Spectrum Access System (SAS) and small cells alongside Ericsson and Qualcomm, on the French Pavilion at Mobile World Congress.

The demonstration, which will run continuously on RED Technologies’ stand, follows the launch of two significant LSA pilots in Paris and Rome where RED Technologies solutions are being applied to release spectrum belonging to national Ministries of Defence. The pilots place Europe in a leadership position with regard to the applicability of LSA in the 2.3-2.4 GHz band. Their success promises to further enable market growth, competition and innovation.

On a wider scale, the application of LSA to the 2.3-2.4 GHz band across Europe will release enough spectrum to enable innovative 5G services for all EU citizens.

“In the near future, incumbents will share their spectrum securely in time, frequency and/or geography. The MWC demonstration we are doing with Ericsson and Qualcomm gives visitors a glimpse of how this will work,” said Michael Abitbol, Managing Director of RED Technologies.
